Vision & Mission

The Forest Learning Alliance vision and mission is summarised as ‘Recruit, Train, Retain’ achieving this by providing high-quality career staged professional development for the education sector.

Its alliance of schools work collaboratively to meet local professional development needs, as well as delivering on government programmes and educational legislation. FLA draws upon current research and the educational landscape to create a professional development road-map.

Our approach encompasses the ethos of ‘by schools for schools’, therefore ensuring there is a forum to support the FLA in creating essential programmes. FLA’s expertise is central to this especially when navigating the changes in education for schools. This partnership is fundamental to our growth and offer.

History & Overview

Established 2013, Forest Learning Alliance (FLA) was a National Teaching School through to the national de-designation and replacement with Teaching School Hubs. Post de-designation, FLA have continued to provide career-path CPD to schools and leaders in and outside of the Alliance.

Since 2019 FLA has acted as an RSHE Curriculum Hub in lieu of no government-funded provision, providing PD and signposting for all phases and settings.

In 2021, FLA attained Delivery Partner status with Education Development Trust for the National Professional Qualification and Early Career Framework programmes. This was to ensure the FLA continues to provide high-quality PD and nationally recognised qualifications as well as maintaining oversight of the government’s implementation of the ‘golden thread’ for PD and ownership of local deliver for Alliance members and beyond.
