The Department for Education’s (DfE) vision is an education system that drives social mobility, ensuring that every child and young person can access a high quality education, regardless of location, prior attainment or background. The DfE convened leading Headteachers, multi-academy trust (MAT) CEOs, and other sector experts to reform the NPQ programmes in order to prepare school leaders at all levels more effectively for the range of leadership roles in today’s school system. “The new approach to the NPQs will put the best schools and organisations in the driving seat of leadership professional development” (DfE 2017).
Working with a flexible set of frameworks that include the NPQEL, NPQH, NPQSL and NPQML, the FLA has designed an exciting programme tailored to meet the needs of all schools, including those in challenging circumstances.
The programmes are delivered using online modules and face-to-face sessions. The core content at each level is based on materials devised by Anita Warwick, Executive Head of the FLA, who for many years has trained Heads and school leaders at all levels across Berkshire, nationally and internationally using an approach that has inspired many to take the next steps in leadership.
