How to Apply

All applicants will need to apply through the UCAS website. If you are interested in applying for a position within Forest Learning Alliance, then ensure that you use our name, or Uplands Primary School, within your programme search.

Recruitment Procedures

Successful applicants will be offered an interview at one of our schools where they will:

  • be interviewed by a Headteacher and a school representative
  • be observed working with a group of children
  • complete an oral presentation on a topic of their choice

Following success at interview, a School Direct placement will be offered within one of our partner schools.

Specific entry requirements

Minimum degree required: Lower Second

School Direct offers a unique training route to achieving qualified teacher status (QTS) and aims to attract the highest quality candidates. In order to apply for a place on School Direct, you must have:

  • A UK undergraduate honours degree or a recognised equivalent qualification
  • A GCSE grade C/4 or above in English Language and mathematics
  • A GCSE grade C/4 or above in a science if you applying to teach primary or key stage 2/3 (ages 7-14)

If you studied outside of the UK you should visit the National Academic Recognition Centre (NARIC) website to find out whether your qualifications are of an equivalent level to UK GCSEs, A levels and an undergraduate degree.
